  1. This is an -81D, isn't it? Also I beleive they used wrong callsign .. BOE247 should be the next -8JP (LN-DYX).... This one should have been BOE580.

  2. Hi Andreas
Sometimes before the aircraft is built the aircraft is actually owned by the airline which in this case is Norwegian Air shuttle which is why it's a -8JP but at some point before or during being built the airline sells the aircraft to a leasing company like Ansett Worldwide then leases the aircraft back, but as the aircraft was originally ordered by the airline & not the leasing company it still retains it's customer code -8JP & will only be a -81D if Ansett Worldwide ordered the aircraft then leased it to a airline, Another example is WestJet who also lease some of their aircraft but still retain -?CT customer code.
To my knowledge the call signs follow in sequential order with the airline which in this case BOE247 LN-NOY, BOE248 LN-NOZ & BOE249 LN-DYX which is scheduled for delivery the end of February.

  3. HI John. Actually, most LN-NOx aircraft are non -8JP ... Including this one, as they are non-Norwegian owned. I also think someone with BOE has mixed up the callsigns, as BOE247 is reserved for LN-DYX.

This is info I have from Boeing's production list and NAX employees.

  4. Hi Andreas
Although not a complete answer but it appears it is now how the individual
airline negotiates it's contract with the leasing company if the airline insists on having the same galleys toilets etc...in the same place as the rest of their non leased fleet then the aircraft will retain it's own customer code which in this case is -8JP.
However if the spec is in the leasing companies configuration then it would most likely have the -81D customer code.
    Regards
    John
